Congratulations to our GCSE students who have smashed our GCSE records!
Read moreJust a week after one of the best sets of A Level results in 15 years, the Roedean GCSE students have smashed all records! This is the largest cohort in years, who took a total of 1353 GCSEs, and 36.2% of these were awarded Grade 9, which is 4% higher than last year. This elite grade is once more the most common GCSE result at Roedean by some margin. 79.1% of all GCSEs were awarded Grades 9-7, equivalent to the previous A*-A – this 5% increase on last year makes these the best examined results in two decades.
Congratulations to Elsa, Rida, Georgie, Claire, Martha, Emma, and Abbie, who all achieved straight Grade 9s – these seven students have shown remarkable academic consistency and breadth. Overall, thirteen students achieved nine or more Grade 9s, of whom eight were awarded ten or more elite grades. 24 students achieved Grades 9-8 in all subjects, and 91% of this large cohort were awarded at least one GCSE at Grade 9-8.
Niamh Green, Head, is thrilled that the girls have done so well: ‘I am delighted that the Year 11s have achieved such remarkable results – they approached their exams in a very focused yet calm way, and the positive mindset they adopted collectively has clearly had a very beneficial impact on how they performed. Many have done brilliantly, and, for 91% of the whole year-group to be awarded at least one Grade 9-8 underlines the strength in depth of this cohort. I am very grateful to my colleagues for preparing and supporting the students so well, but it is obvious that the girls’ hard work really paid off – they all deserve this moment in the spotlight!’
