Students across our school have been recognised for an impressive range of achievements, with success in national academic competitions, performing arts examinations and elite dance awards.

Our mathematicians have enjoyed particular success. In the Junior Maths Challenge, Year 7 and 8 students demonstrated impressive logical thinking and problem-solving skills under timed conditions. Special congratulations go to Thea (Year 8) and Izzy (Year 7), who both achieved Gold awards, with Thea also securing an invitation to the prestigious Kangaroo follow-on round after achieving an exceptional score of 90. In addition, eight students received Silver awards and six achieved Bronze.

There was further mathematical success in the Grey and Pink Kangaroo competitions, which are only open to high-performing students from the Intermediate Maths Challenge. Four Roedean students, Ariana, Claudia, Emily and Liz, achieved Silver awards, placing them among the top 3% nationally, while Abbie, Natalie, Athena and Ady all earned Bronze awards. These are outstanding accomplishments in highly competitive national challenges.

In the sciences, our students have also excelled in demanding national competitions. Congratulations to Ady, Claudia, Scarlett, Flo, Aminata, Selina and Victoria in Year 11, who all achieved Bronze Awards in the Intermediate Physics Challenge. Meanwhile, students participating in the Chemistry Olympiad, organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry, achieved an impressive collection of awards. Athena and Elane (Year 12), alongside Hayley (Year 13), earned Bronze certificates, while Natalie and Irina (Year 13), and Michelle, Nathania and Constance (Year 12), secured Silver awards. Particular congratulations go to Ronni (Year 13) and Natalie (Year 12), whose Gold certificates represent an exceptional level of achievement in one of the country’s most rigorous chemistry competitions.

The performing arts continue to thrive at Roedean. Students taking LAMDA examinations in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Verse and Prose achieved extraordinary results, with all 25 entrants earning either Distinctions or Merits, including an outstanding 22 Distinctions. Particularly notable were the three students who achieved Distinction at Grade 8, an exceptional accomplishment reflecting years of dedication and performance excellence.

Equally impressive were the results achieved by our ballet students. Claire and Abby (Year 13) both passed their RAD Advanced 2 Ballet examinations with Distinction, an achievement rarely seen alongside the demands of a mainstream school curriculum. This level is comparable to the standard expected of first-year undergraduate dance students, making their success especially remarkable. Isabella (Year 13) and Megs (Year 12) also achieved Distinction in their Advanced 1 Ballet and Grade 8 examinations respectively. What makes these accomplishments even more inspiring is the breadth of talent demonstrated by these students beyond dance, from sporting leadership to outstanding university offers in subjects ranging from Biology to Classics.

These achievements are a testament to the ambition, resilience and enthusiasm of our students, as well as the support and encouragement provided by staff, families and the wider Roedean community. We congratulate every student who has taken part in these challenges and examinations, and we look forward to celebrating many more successes in the months ahead.
