Outstanding GCSE Results
It is one week on from the remarkable A Level results, and the Roedean Year 11 cohort have achieved outstanding GCSE results – 32.1%, almost one in three, of all grades were awarded at the highest Grade 9, which is the most common grade for the year-group this year. Overall, these results the best ever in non-Covid times, with 57.7% achieved at Grades 9-8, equivalent to the previous A* grade.
Fourteen outstanding candidates were awarded nine or more Grade 9s, with 130 between them – that is 11% of the year-group with at least nine of the top elite grades. Within this number, seven students have ten or more Grade 9s, including two who have unbroken strings of 9s, one with twelve and a second with eleven.
74.3% of the examinations were awarded Grades 9-7, previously A*-A, and the students outperformed the 2019 pre-Covid figure by 6%. This is an exceptional achievement for the students, who have endured three years of disrupted education, dating back to when they were in Year 8.
Niamh Green, Head, is delighted with the students’ achievements: ‘They have performed brilliantly, and I am so pleased for them, particularly after all they have been through. The incredible amount of hard work they put in has paid off, and they thoroughly deserve their success!’
