Working with teenagers is always interesting and very rewarding, seeing the tangible difference that you can make to their lives.
A typical day at Roedean is really varied. Early starts and late finishes with all sorts happening in between. Lots of pupil facing time, be that with boarders in house or pupils in the classroom. Some days involve teaching A Level Theology and then Year 7 Latin, running inter-house events, attending meetings, working with Boarding Prefects etc…Essentially no two days are the same.
Working with teenagers is always interesting and very rewarding, seeing the tangible difference that you can make to their lives, especially when you live with them too.The most rewarding aspect of working at Roedean is the potential impact that you make on the pupils: sometimes known and sometimes never directly known. When pupils tell you in cards or in speeches how much you have supported them and it has made a difference, when ORs send an email out of the blue, from Mexico or Hong Kong or London to give you an update on their life – all priceless.
The best aspects of Roedean are:
- The pupils – for me that is especially the boarders who I get to build strong relationships with.
- The staff – very faithful, lots of goodwill from so many, lots of humour which is essential.
- The view – always changing and never gets old.
