One of my favourite aspects of studying music at Roedean is the numerous opportunities available to engage with music.
My favourite performance to date was at the 2024 Brighton Festival Fringe concert. It was my first time performing as a solo harpist with the school orchestra in a large venue, in front of a huge audience. Having the opportunity to showcase my abilities to the rest of the school and knowing that the countless hours of practice had paid off, made the experience particularly memorable. This performance not only boosted my confidence, but also inspired me to become more involved with the music department.
One of my favourite aspects of studying music at Roedean is the numerous opportunities available to engage with music. Whether it’s inside the classroom, exploring music theory and composition, or outside the classroom, through participating in gala concerts, teatime recitals, and chamber music performances, there will always be a uniquely personal way for students to engage with music. Such as, my involvement in the school’s production of ‘The Sound of Music’ as a member of the live orchestra offered me a unique opportunity to engage with music, as I had never performed in a theatrical production before. Despite the chaos during rehearsals and having to play in 4 consecutive shows, the experience was ultimately rewarding and enjoyable!
Music has always been a huge part of my life, and getting to continue this journey in Roedean has truly been a privilege. I look forward to participating in even more concerts and musical events in the future, as I continue to embrace my life as a musician in Roedean.
