House Spirit

School Life

House Teams are a foundational aspect of life at Roedean, with the four main houses (1-4) forming our iconic building.

Every Roedean student, whether a day pupil or boarder, belongs to a House Team, creating a strong sense of community from the moment she joins the School.

Throughout the year, students take part in a wide variety of competitions and events, earning points for their House and working together towards the end-of-term House Championship.

“So many, all in just two years: School productions, Speech Day, and meeting so many exceptional girls and young women, feeling part of a vibrant community of colleagues, making friends for life…”

Meet the House Teams

Each House has its own colour and mascot, with the boarding houses reflecting these identities through their interior decoration. House 1 is represented by the Green Dragons, House 2 by the Yellow Tigers, House 3 by the Blue Angels, and House 4 by the Red Falcons.

House Pride and Tradition

Every student remains part of her House throughout her time at Roedean, including those living in Keswick. During House events, students proudly wear their House colours, often adding tutus, face paint and other creative touches. These traditions help foster school spirit, strengthen friendships and create a lasting sense of belonging within the Roedean community.

Competitions Throughout the Year

There is a House competition for everyone, with events taking place throughout the academic year across sport, the arts and academic subjects. From Dance and Fashion Shows to Cross Country and Tennis, alongside challenges such as Bake Off, Spelling Bees and Problem Solving, every student has the opportunity to contribute to her House, discover new talents and celebrate success as part of a team.

House Shout

The House calendar begins with one of the most anticipated events of the year, House Shout. Students, alongside their Housemistress, House Team Champions and House Captains, write and perform original chants and songs that showcase creativity, teamwork and House pride. The event sets the tone for a year of friendly competition and strengthens the bonds within each House.
