Medicine at Leeds for Dawn
Congratulations to Dawn, who has achieved A*AA at A Level in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths – she has aspired to study Medicine for a number of years, and, in a few short weeks, she will embark upon her dream course at Leeds University.
From Brighton, she joined Roedean in Year 7, and, she has consistently shown herself to be a top academic throughout her school career, achieving ten Grade 9s at GCSE. Roedean bucks the national trend concerning girls studying the Sciences, and Dawn is one of eight students, nearly nine percent of the cohort, who will be leaving the School this year to pursue Medicine or Veterinary Medicine at university.
Good luck!
PPE at Oxford for Ella
Congratulations to Ella, who achieved A*AA at A Level in Maths, History, and Physics, after joining the Sixth Form at Roedean as a Scholar. Her academic prowess was immediately clear, and it was no surprise when she was offered a place to study PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics) at Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
She is incredibly proud of what she has achieved, and, on Results’ Day, she was very grateful to her teachers for their support over the last two years. She enjoyed being editor of one of the Roedean student newspapers, and is excited about the challenge which lies ahead.
Good luck, Ella!
Art Foundation for Niamh
Well done to Niamh, who has achieved A*AB at A Level in Art, Classical Civilisation, and English Literature. She will soon begin a Foundation Course in Art and Design at Kingston University, where she will be able to develop her already considerable talents.
In Year 13, she chose to experiment with printing, and produced a stunning dress, layered with her own printed material. She is also an extremely talented singer, who achieved Grade 7 and 8 Singing with Distinction – in her final term, just before her A Levels began, she performed a stunning Mozart operatic aria with orchestra in Roedean’s Brighton Festival Fringe concert.
Good luck, Niamh!
“I am very happy with my results. I would like to thank all of my teachers for their endless support throughout the application process and my academic journey at Roedean – I would not be able to achieve these grades without their help and encouragement.”

Fashion Degree at Kingston for Carmen
Well done to Carmen, who is an outstanding talent in Art – she achieved A* grades in both Art and Textiles, and an A grade in Maths. She is a creative whirlwind, who could almost always be found in the Art Studio, producing large-scale pieces in record time, and always keen to experiment with something new.
Her impressive talent was spotted by those running the highly-acclaimed course at Kingston University, and she was offered an unconditional place directly onto the Fashion degree course, without undertaking a Foundation Year, which is very unusual. Carmen is also very accomplished on the Piano and Clarinet, and she played in concerts throughout her time at Roedean.
She said, ‘I’m so shocked it’s really over! I’ll miss every moment at Roedean!’
Good luck, Carmen, and we look forward to seeing your work in the future!
Tammy’s Heading to King’s College
Congratulations to Tammy, who has achieved AAB at A Level in Business, Economics, and Classical Civilisation. She is delighted with her results, which mean that she can take up her place on her first-choice course, which is International Development with a Year Abroad, at King’s College London.
She joined Roedean in Year 10, following in her sister’s footsteps – from day one, her smiling disposition and positive attitude were clear, and she has been a strong presence in the boarding house, and as one of the six members of the Head of School team.
Good luck, Tammy – we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
Exceptional Grades in Maths for Euran!
Congratulations to Euran, who has been awarded A*A*A at A Level in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics – she scored 93% overall in both Maths and Further Maths, and her results were complemented by the award of the S grade, the highest possible, in each of the two STEP papers she took in Maths.
These notoriously difficult papers are used by Cambridge University to differentiate truly exceptional Mathematicians from those who are highly gifted, and she was required to achieve two Grade 1s, so to get two S grades is remarkable. Euran is delighted with her results and excited about starting her undergraduate studies at Girton College, Cambridge .
‘It’s been not easy, but it has all been worth it. Cambridge has been my dream university for a while!’
Good luck, Euran!
“I’m thrilled with what I have achieved, and can’t wait for the next stage of my academic journey.”

Straight A* Grades for Abi
Abi has been awarded A* grades for A Level Music, Biology, and Psychology – what a remarkable achievement! She joined Roedean in the Sixth Form from Worthing, and has thrown herself into school life. She has an interest in undergraduate study in the Sciences, but is also an exceptional musician.
In Year 13, she achieved a distinction for her ABRSM Performance Diploma on Piano, indicating a standard far beyond Grade 8, and she is also an extremely talented saxophonist. She has taken part in many shows and performances during her time at Roedean, and enjoyed a wide range of opportunities. Abi is taking a gap year, teaching Piano, before going to university.
Congratulations, and good luck!
Amelia’s Going To Cambridge
Congratulations to Amelia, who has achieved A*AA in A Level Maths, Economics, and Chemistry, along with an A* for her EPQ and an A in AS Further Maths. These excellent results will take her to Girton College, where she will read Land Economy.
As one of the Heads of School, Amelia was always an outstanding ambassador for Roedean, and excelled on the Sports Field, particularly in Hockey and Netball. She joined the School in Year 7, and, in 2018, she represented her year-group on a visit to our sister school in Johannesburg, Roedean South Africa, and last summer she was one of twelve students who taught English to Ukrainian refugees in Moldova on the inaugural Project 125 Moldova trip.
Amelia has performed brilliantly, and she will definitely make her mark – good luck!
Remarkable A*A*A* Grades for Portia
Well done to Portia, who has achieved exceptional grades at A Level – she has been awarded A*A*A* in History, English Literature, and Classical Civilisation, alongside an A* grade for her Extended Project Qualification. In English Literature, she achieved a spectacular 93% overall!
She said, ‘I was so nervous when I woke up, I had to get my parents to open my results for me! I’m thrilled with what I have achieved, and can’t wait for the next stage of my academic journey.’
These top grades mean that she easily achieved the AAA offer she is holding to study History at Edinburgh University. She joined Roedean in Year 10, and has loved her time at the School, including being part of the first trip to Moldova in the summer between Year 12 and 13, where she taught English to refugees.
Good luck, Portia!
