Minibus Service

Roedean School transport is provided by a professional and dedicated team of trained minibus drivers who are proud of their service and look forward to welcoming your daughter on-board.

Our minibus fleet is modern and comfortable; the buses are operated and maintained under current legislation, fitted with on-board cameras for maximum safety, and all our drivers must have DBS clearance and a clean driving licence with D1 category as mandatory. Minibus drivers must also complete a theory and driving assessment with Sussex County Council prior to joining us.

Each summer, we carefully consider our routes, and the viability of each is dependent on pupil demand.

How to apply

To enquire about a place on a minibus for your daughter, please complete a registration form by clicking on the link below. Submission of an application does not guarantee a seat. A place on a minibus is subject to the availability of space on the requested route. The registration form includes the Declaration of Interest, Pupil Code of Conduct, and Parent Contract.

Please take note that:

Priority of places will be given to full season ticket holders.

Parents of girls whose siblings already use the Roedean minibus service must also register.

Bookings are only accepted for the whole term – not part thereof.

Once you have registered, Roedean will process your application and confirm your daughter’s seat via email.

The current Route structure may be subject to change during the academic year.

Cancellation

The minibus may only be terminated/amended at the end of a term, for which a half of one term’s notice in writing is required. If the minibus is discontinued during a term, the whole of that term’s charge will be payable. Girls may not themselves advise cancellation of the service.

A half-season or flexi-season option may be available on request and subject to seat availability on the required route. Please note that a full season ticket will take priority over any half or flexi-season option.

Victoria Escort service

Weekly escorted travel, to and from London

The Victoria Escort (VE) service is used by Weekly and Flexi boarders to travel to and from London. It has been running for many years and has become increasingly popular with our London boarders – Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils are prioritised, but it is open to all.

Please be reassured that girls are accompanied by at least two members of staff on all journeys.

On Fridays, the VE departs after school and the students travel by taxi to Brighton station and by train to London Victoria Train Station, arriving at approximately 6:00pm.

On Sundays, we meet at the Victoria Coach Station departures area (the designated ‘Lane’ will be displayed on the electronic notice boards at 4:30pm), then we board and leave by 4:55pm. The girls arrive back at school by 7:00pm, which allows time to have supper and unpack before their weekly House meeting at 8:00pm with their Housemistress.

This service enables girls to spend weekends and Exeats with their parents/guardians, and for end/start of term travel. The cost per trip from September 2023 will be £41. Costs will be added to your school bill each term.
