Meet Ruth Sambrook (our super-talented pastry chef)


Tell us a little about what you do…
“I’m responsible for all dessert and sweet-related items required for the school. Every day, I prepare homemade desserts for girls and staff. Alongside this, the school has an extremely busy events schedule for which I prepare biscuits, cakes, pastries and sweet canapés. Every day is varied, there’s never a dull moment!”


Which bakery items are favourites with the girls?
“The most popular usually involve chocolate – so brownies and blondies go down well!”


What do you most enjoy about your role?
“Even though things can be incredibly busy, it’s never boring. I enjoy being creative and attempting to delight people. A particular favourite are the themed events we host throughout the year.”


Finally, why do you think these tasty treats are so legendary within school?
“Well, I just think that delicious food can have a positive effect on the girls’ wider Roedean experience. The simple act of enjoying food with friends is good for the soul.”
