Friday night saw the most wonderful gala concert in the School’s Chapel, featuring a whole host of musical items with a focus on nature.

Eight different ensembles, including over 160 musicians, performed a brilliant repertoire, which ranged from Mendelssohn to Marvin Gaye, from Saint-Saëns to Elton John, and from Eric Coates to Van Morrison. No fewer than fifteen pianists performed in the Carnival of the Animals; the famous Swan and the Elephant were characterised beautifully by two soloists, and four students also jumped at the challenge of taking up the baton to conduct individual movements.

The Chapel was bathed in coloured light, which related to the pieces being performed, creating a sensory experience for the audience of 350 concert-goers. Huge congratulations go to all our musicians, to Mr Benjamin Rous and Ms Sophia Bartlette (Director and Assistant Director of Music) our Music teachers, and to the Theatre team who worked their magic to create such wonderful effects.
